HELLO THERE!
I’m Ryan Kmonk, a Creative Technologist focused on immersive media, interactive storytelling, and experience design. I blend historical research, emerging technology, and visual production to create experiences that educate, inspire, and connect audiences.
I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Immersive Media and History with a Business minor from Chatham University in 2025. My interdisciplinary background allows me to merge creative direction, technical development, and strategic thinking across immersive projects.
My Story
My journey into immersive media began during elementary school, when I first discovered the magic of stop-motion animation. Crafting short films with LEGO minifigures sparked a lifelong passion for using technology to tell meaningful stories: a passion that has evolved and strengthened over the years.
My background includes projection mapping, VR development, 3D visualization, game design, and documentary production. I’ve worked extensively with Unity, TouchDesigner, Blender, and Adobe Creative Cloud, alongside programming in Python and C#. As an Immersive Media Studio Assistant, I supported prototype development, managed studio technology, and collaborated across disciplines to deliver interactive installations and live media projects.
Selected projects include Cemigram, an immersive projection-mapped memorial installation; D-Day VR Experience, a historically grounded interactive simulation; and multiple documentary and narrative works exploring underrepresented historical and social themes. Across each project, I focus on clarity of story, technical precision, and meaningful audience impact.
Beyond academic work, my experience directing film crews and working with The Walt Disney Company through the Disney College Program strengthened my leadership, adaptability, and commitment to designing experiences at scale.
Throughout all my work, one guiding belief has been that technology should be used to honor humanity, inspire empathy, and connect generations. Whether through interactive historical experiences or projection-mapped memorials, I aim to create projects that leave a lasting emotional impact.
As I continue forward, I’m excited to grow my portfolio, take on new collaborations, and develop immersive experiences that challenge, move, and inspire.
